TIPS AND IDEAS FOR VIRTUAL HOLIDAY CELEBRATION

While the pandemic isn’t over, having celebrations for the holidays are not yet possible. As hard as it is for all of us to believe, the holiday season is well underway. Fortunately, we can still have a celebration virtually in the safe of our own home.

Here is some guide to help you make a holiday get together more fun with colleagues, family and friends:

  1. Anticipate time difference

This is highly relevant when the team is in various time zones. It may not be suitable for a few, depending on where others are but try to be imaginative. Your party, for example, might be a festive dinner and a fun breakfast for others. When you have set an effective time for everyone, make sure to give them an e-card or email invitation.

  1. Choose the right technology and tools

Productivity software can also be used by the team to organise a virtual holiday party. To get everyone on-screen for your virtual celebration, platforms such as zoom or skype can be used. For your team, it may also be an opportunity to highlight their workspace, pets or their holiday displays.  Particularly, there are times when we think what my teammates’ office might look like? So it added fun and opportunity by playing with this stuff to get to know your colleagues better.

  1. Games

Apart from eating together, party games are another thing that we all look forward to. But because it’s a virtual party, some changes have been made to what games we can play. You can play a game like a turn in a picture of their workstations and see if you can guess whose desk it is or creative Christmas costume contests.  Karaoke or gaming sites are also available online where anyone can get together remotely and sing their hearts out or showcase their gaming skills. Or you could create a game of your own.

  1. Show that artistry side of yours

If you have trouble thinking of games to play, another thing you can create is to do a craft together with your team, such as picture painting, DIY, etc. Send your team supplies ahead of time or let them provide their own materials, but don’t give them an idea before the actual game begins. As everyone shares their success in their DIY masterpieces, you’re sure to have some laughs.

  1. Celebrate accomplishments

Take some time to recognise all the accomplishments your team has contributed over the past year. If you’d normally give awards, you can showcase them on your webcam and ship them out the next day.

To sum up, the Virtual Holiday Party is a fun way to get the team together but making a point of remembering the accomplishments of your organisation and turning the objective momentarily on some of the potential challenges ahead reminds you why you are all getting together to celebrate in the first place.
